Discovering new waves to surf on the Great Lakes // Red Bull
Sometimes discovery can be right in your backyard. Surfing on the Great Lakes has been around for decades, but with thousands of miles of shoreline the objective was to surf new, undiscovered waves. This two-part project brought Hawaiian big wave charger Jamie Sterling to the Midwest in the summer to use a WWII seaplane to document the coastline of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior in preparation to return during a winter storm and score some of the biggest documented waves on the Great Lakes.
